OVERALL CHARACTER Concert instruments with perfect voice and touch that offer maximum sound volume and freedom of interpretation.
SOUNDBOARD (WOOD) Mountain spruce grown slowly at elevations of 1,000 meters and higher in Val di Fiemme, Dolomites (similar to the tonewood used by Antonio Stradivari).
SOUNDBOARD (DESIGN) Each soundboard is formed as a membrane with its projection surface adjusted to the instrument’s specific acoustic assembly, just like in violin-making.
ACOUSTIC ASSEMBLY (MATERIALS) Finest spruce, mahogany, pine and sycamore maple.
CAST-IRON FRAME The special composition of the cast iron and the particular form of the frame dampen its vibrations, boost the string energy and improve the transmission speed. The extremely smooth frame surface and the optimized arrangement of all sound-amplifying elements guarantee harmonic partials with the highest possible frequencies.
RESONATOR SYSTEM The B, C and D models are provided with an adjustable cast-iron resonator that optimizes both the timbre and the radiating force of the treble strings.
AGRAFFES / CAPO BAR Agraffes ensure a precise positioning of the bass and middle section strings. The treble strings rest on a capo bar that is part of the cast-iron frame.
C. BECHSTEIN BRIDGE CALIBRATION SYSTEM (BCS) The bridges are made of high-quality vertically aligned sycamore maple layers using state-of-the-art CNC technology. Precision down to a hundredth of a millimeter guarantees perfect transmission of sound and frequencies to the soundboard.
WOOD JOINTS Reinforced wood-dovetail joints between rim-posts and the inner rim.

Optimum repetition speed thanks to the use of highest quality materials, ultra-precise calibration of each action and the accurate assembly of the various parts.
C. BECHSTEIN DYNAMIC TOUCH BALANCING (DTB) Ultra-precise touch-weight distribution of the masses and spring force for each individual tone.
C. BECHSTEIN INDIVIDUAL VOICING Optimal individual voicing by Concert Master Piano Makers gives the musician additional aspects of quality.
CASE / FINISH Cabinets manufactured at the C. Bechstein production sites from some twenty top-quality parts. Elegant finish in every detail where a highly professional technique is used in applying high-gloss lacquer, followed by a longer drying process.
